Friday, Karl only had meetings until noon so we waited until he was done to continue our explorations. Michelle and I had already mapped out what places we wanted to go back and visit at Arches so as soon as he was done, we set out on our journey.
Super Dad!
A few funny side notes about eating out during our trip.
The hotel we stayed at provided breakfast for us each morning of our vacation. The girls thought it was so cool that they could make their own hot, fresh waffles everyday. Our first morning there, Madison watched as everyone went over and got themselves a drink to go with their breakfast. A few minutes later she came over to Karl carrying a cup she had filled up for him. She was so excited to give Daddy this special drink... and then Karl had to go and ruin all the fun. His response, "Thanks sweetie for bringing me a drink, but this is coffee... we don't drink coffee." But it's the thought that counts right?
The girls were so sick of eating out and weren't very happy when we kept making them do it over and over again. We had gone to this little Ma and Pop burger place for lunch one day and Brooklyn did not want to go inside. So she sat down on a bench outside the door while we all decided what to order. As we were sitting and eating our meal a lady came over and said to me, "I have to tell you the funniest thing about your daughter. She was sitting outside with a pouty look on her face so I looked at her, did the pouty face myself and held up two fingers to make the peace sign. She looked back at me, still pouting, and held up 3 fingers instead- telling me no, I'm not 2, I'm 3!"
I loved this picture but it was too washed out so black and white is what you get. Look how far off the ground Brooklyn's feet are.
I tell you, that girl catches some air!
Although the temperatures were quite nice in Moab while we were there (Salt Lake was getting snow and we were enjoying 50 degree temperatures) it was a bit chilly due to the wind.
Aubrey really did not like the wind...
We started walking through this beautiful place called the sand dunes when Aubrey started SCREAMING!
This was as far as I made it before I had to turn around and take Aubrey to the car while the others continued on...
But I was told the girls couldn't get enough of this place.
But Aubrey sure enjoyed playing in the car with just Mommy for the next 45 minutes or so while the others did one last short hike.
I love the look on her face in this picture.
"Watch OUT!!!!"
It was pretty funny though, when she literally started screaming as soon as she saw everyone else walking back to the car...
Saturday morning, we started our journey back home. We made one quick stop at Dead Horse Point but didn't stay long because it was freezing! We stayed long enough to take a few pictures to prove we were there...
First group picture during our trip... on our way home.
And that concludes our trip.
