One of THOSE weeks!

This week has been one of those weeks where... nothing seemed to go right. I got a migraine that put me completely out of commission for a few days while at the same time I was having to deal with the stress of pulling off our big quarterly enrichment activity. I felt awful and incapable of doing anything. Fortunately for me, Madison was very "understanding" and allowed me to just lay on the couch all day long while she played by herself. Lets just say though, by the end of the week Madison was definitely ready for some love and attention. This is what she looked like yesterday when she decided that she was ready to get out of the house. She gathered up all of her toys, put on her snow hat (even though it was a beautiful spring day) brought me my shoes and put them on for me and then brought me her shoes to put on for her.

This is Madison keeping herself entertained in her kitchen set fridge that she turned into a space ship.

And here she is being silly in one of mommy's work hats.

Thank you Madison for cooperating this week and Thank you to everyone who helped me get through this dreadful week!

Easter a month early

Last weekend we celebrated Easter with my family. Yes Easter about a whole month early. Why you may ask? My sisters are going to be out of town over Easter but still wanted to do all of the traditional Easter things and they didn't know when we would be back down again before they left. My sister Michelle bought lots of fun little things for us to do and we all had lots of fun. We made candy necklaces, made and decorated cupcakes, colored Easter eggs and even had an Easter egg hunt for Maddie.

I love this picture of my mom in the background because it looks like she is playing shuffle board in the kitchen.

First sign of SpRiNg!

Today we bought Madison her very first spring outfit of the year, which only makes me even more anxious for spring to arrive. Karl actually found the shorts. I don't let him pick out clothes for Madison very often because I've seen how he dresses her when he is in charge but today I really liked what he chose. The only problem... he found the shorts in the middle of the little BOY section. Yes, these shorts are really boy shorts but they looked so Stinkin' cute on Maddie that we couldn't resist. The shorts are still a little bit big which actually makes for a pretty funny sight.

Maddie also got a CUTE new dress from my family for Easter. You HAVE to go visit my mom's blog to see for yourself. http://joannclegg.blogspot.com/

Nothing to Blog about except for...

Karl's decided to go back to school!

When he graduated we knew this was a possibility...
our hope was for him to get a good job that would help him PAY for his schooling...
but with the ecomomy the way it is right now...

the odds were not in our favor.
So we finally decided the $20,000 debt in school loans was worth it.

The program he wants to do is Rehabilitation Counseling here at Utah State. It is the highest ranked program here and has a 100% job placement after graduation. So now all we need to do is take the GRE.

Growing

Everyday I look at Madison I can not believe how much she is growing. It seems like all of a sudden Madison has been able to do a lot more then she used to. Just to name a few, she can
-open doors (especially the fridge)
-reach stuff on the counter (like mommy's bowl of beets or bag of chocolate)
-has learned that she can use items (such as her toys) to help her get taller to reach those items farther away
-Flush the toilet (Thankfully she hasn't tried to put anything in it yet)
-she can actually communicate to some degree what she wants (the words don't always sound perfect but you definitely know what she is trying to say)
-recognize when she has gone to the bathroom and tries to "sit" on the toilet (tonight she sat on the potty for about 20 minutes. She didn't actually go while sitting on the potty but wanted to sit on it anyway)
And last but not least
-go down 3 story high slides all by herself without mommy even knowing (if you can imagine my panic about this one- she has never even been down ANY slide by herself let alone THAT slide!)
If any of you have been to the Fun Park you would know what slide I am talking about. It really is a pretty big slide and you get going SUPER fast. There are also 2 big bumbs you go over as well. Madison snuck away from me and by the time I realized she was gone (which was literaly about 3 seconds) she was already half way down the slide. She LOVED it until she got to the bottom and realized she was all alone.

The "One Year" Quilt

I bought some material probably about a year ago to make a toddler sized quilt for Madison. As I started cutting out squares I realized that I probably didn't have enough material to make it big enough to be a toddler sized quilt. I was going to buy more material but was just waiting until we had a little extra money to spend on it. I kept putting it off for so long that I am pretty sure that they no longer have that material... so I finally decided that I was just going to make it into a baby quilt. I finished the quilt last night and I love it! Now all I need is a baby to go with it. Maybe that will be my next big project. ;)
