Happy Halloween!!!!

To start off, I would like to say Happy Halloween and now I would like to rewind and say Happy/ or not so Happy Halloween. This past week has been a ROUGH week for our family to say the least. My last post I mention how Madison spilt red paint all over my carpet (which I thought I got most of it out and I didn't). Well the next day Madison decided to cover our carpet again... but this time is was not paint but rather, her dinner. Madison caught the nasty flu that has been going around lately and lets just say it has been anything but fun. That first night we hardly slept at all because Madison could not stop throwing up. So the next day we were all exhausted and Madison and I got to spend the entire day in bed. You know Madison really must not have felt good because she does not like to sit still for more then a few minutes at a time, never mind the entire day. Well this morning when we woke up, I thought she was doing a lot better because she was no longer throwing up and seemed to be acting a lot better. But as soon as we got out of bed I realized that she wasn't acting quite like herself. She was really irritable and I could hardly get her to eat a single thing all day long. Except for candy of course which I obviously did not want to let her eat. All she wanted to do was sleep, which normally wouldn't bother me but it was Halloween and I wanted to be able to dress her up in her cute costume and go have fun with our friends. After she took a 3-1/2 hour nap we got dressed up and went to our favorite neighborhood grocery store with our friends Kaylyn, Maleah, Jessica, Kenner and Lily, where they had trick or treating through out the store. Madison had so much fun walking through the store, holding Kenner's hand and getting candy from people. After we were done there we went over to the mall to get even more candy. By the time we had finished we had filled her spider bucket twice! That's a lot of candy for a one year old, I guess Karl and I will have to help take care of it. When we got back home it was like Madison turned on the orneriness again because she screamed for about 40 minutes straight before she finally calmed down again. So then... we went trick or treating again with all of the other parents in our ward. We had a lot of fun and all of the little kids looked so cute in their costumes. I forgot to take my camera so I will have to steal some from some of my friends who actually remembered to bring theirs (like you Kaylyn and Erin). Although Madison did seem to be enjoying herself, she still wasn't herself. It made me kind of sad that she didn't get to enjoy Halloween as much as I know she could have, poor girl. After we were done trick or treating, we decided to pay a visit to Karl's family's house (where I actually did think to bring my camera) and were treated to some very delicious taco soup. Thanks again for dinner. Here are some pictures from the last part of our busy, happy/unhappy day.
Ivy and Madison
Ivy is telling the broom secrets. Madison "Ooh this is a cool hat Ivy is wearing"
"I wonder if anyone would notice if I took it from her"
"I think I could get away with it""I got it! Now what do I do with it?"
Look closely at Ivy. She's got the cutest look on her face and her hair is sticking straight up. So cute.Madison was so tuckered out by the end of the night.Normally Madison is attacking Ivy to try and give her hugs. Tonight this was the best she could do.
This is Madison relaxing with Grandma and Grandpa Great in grandma's little old rocking chair. They pulled this chair out for her to use the other day and she loves it. Usually she can get in and out of it on her own- Today she had to have a little extra help getting on it. Doesn't it almost just make you sad looking at her?
Anyway, all things considered we had a pretty good day. Anyway, HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Today has been one of those days

Today has been one of those days that my patience were tested to the max. Madison seemed to be getting into anything and everything that she could even though I had told her a million times not to. The worst of these though, really was not a good thing for her to get into. This afternoon I was working on a craft project and had all of my acrylic paints out. Madison kept wanting to hold them but I wouldn't let her. Well I thought I had all of the paints out of her reach but it turns out I was wrong. I turned around just in time to see Madison covered in BRIGHT RED paint from head to toe! It was even in her hair. As if that weren't bad enough, my tan rug was just as red! I immediately grabbed Madison and put her in the sink (by this point she was screaming because she was covered in paint) and rushed to get water on the rug so that I didn't have a 2' by 2' square of red on my rug. Due to the fact that I totally freaked out when I saw this, the thought of taking a picture didn't even cross my mind and now I am wishing that it had but all I could think about was doing everything I could to get the paint out of my carpet. In the process of cleaning up my rug I noticed a trail of red paint coming from the living room, and that is when I really got worried. We have a new couch and a new rug in that room that I would die if they got ruined. And sure enough, there was red paint on my carpet and rug in the front room as well. Fortunately for me, I did get the paint out of my new rug in the living room as well as the carpet and also did get most of the red out of the rug in our kitchen. A big thanks to Don Aslett's Quick and Clean carpet spot cleaner, I think it was the only reason I got the paint out. Unfortunately the paint did NOT come out of Madison's outfit. I'm just grateful she wasn't wearing one of my favorite outfits.

Let's just say tonight was one of those nights that I could not wait for bedtime to roll around!

Family Photo's and my little pumpkin!

Sorry I know I have been posting a lot lately but we have been doing so many fun things that I just can't help myself. Today was, just as our weekends usually are, a very eventful day. We started our day off pretty slow by doing things such as cleaning up our house, organizing our pantry and all of the not so fun things that needed to be done. Then Karl, Madison and I went to the pumpkin walk (Karl didn't get to go with us the other day). After the pumpkin walk we went and took family pictures with Karl's family. One of our friend's sisters came and took our pictures and I think she did a wonderful job. We haven't seen them yet but I'm pretty sure she got some good ones. After the pictures we went back to Karl's parents house to eat a delicious dinner and carve pumpkins. We had way too much fun.
Madison did NOT want to be posing for pictures which made it really hard for us to get a good family picture. She doesn't really do well with formal pictures, she would rather do candid shots where she can continue doing whatever she wants to. We didn't get many on our camera but here are a few of the ones that we did get.
The one and only family picture we have of us lately

We LOVE fall!

Isn't fall such a fun time of year. The weather is cool, the leaves are beautiful and fun to play in, you get to eat lots of summer and winter squash, you get to carve pumpkins and we get to celebrate the first of the many favorite fall/winter time holidays. These past few days we have especially been enjoying the outdoors. So instead of rambling on about what we have been up to, I'm going to show you.
This picture was taken just hours after Maddie got the tubes put in her ears. When we got home from the doctors she crashed and when she woke up she was acting like nothing had even happened.
She thought she was so funny
Playing in the leaves outside our apartment
Madison LOVES her pumpkin. Every time she sees it she just wants to sit next to it and pat it.Or stand up next to itOr laugh with it
Every year for Halloween our town does a Pumpkin walk where anybody who wants to participate creates a scene using mostly pumpkins, gourds and squash. They usually choose a theme for the event and then everyone does something that goes along with the theme. This year it is "Calling all Heroes" Today Madison and I went with Nanna, Grandma and Grandpa Great, Katie, Lacey, Steve and Ivy to see all of the fun creations. Here are a few of my favorites.
Noah's Ark- if you can make the picture bigger you have to look at all the fun little animals. There are elephants, monkeys, alligators, skunk, pigs and so on.
The hospital- I know it is kind of disgusting but it was quite clever. There was a little bit of everything from newborn babies to patients with it's "guts" hanging out.

I especially thought this part was funny. The guy is getting a shot in his little pumpkin bumThis next one was especially neat. To those who are not familiar with our town, this probably won't make much sense but this is of a guy who lives in town. He is mentally handicapped but he LOVES to ride his bike around town, just to wave to people. He is so cute, he goes everywhere on his bike. He even has one of those bike horns that he will honk at you to get your attention and then he happily waves at you. Brent is a true hero to all of those who know him, young and old.

I really could not believe this next one. They made a water fall out of pumpkins. Now how is that for creative. If you look really closely you can see the water coming out of the pumpkin on top into the pool of pumpkins below.Random rooster/chicken/ I don't know what kind of bird this is.

Wall EOld fashioned lampAnd last but not least. Good Ol' Senator Obama and John McCain

They also have some fun "stick you face in the picture" things that we tried to get Maddie to look through. These are the creatures from the book "where the wild things are"

My little princess- with the sun in her eyesAnd tonight we went to a little Halloween party at our friends Dustin and Mandy's. I didn't get too many pictures but here are a few.
