Practical? Probably not.

Last Sunday we discovered that Madison's church shoes no longer fit her, which with all of her "I'm taller mommy" she's been saying lately, this really didn't surprise me. So today we went to buy her some new shoes. When we got to the store, I was surprised to find that the church shoes were all on sale. SCORE! So we were looking at all of the shoes there and were trying to decide which pair we liked best when we found the perfect pair of shoes. They met all of our criteria.
Cute: check
The right size: check
Cheap: Check
Purple: What?
When did that become a part of our criteria?
Probably the second Madison laid her eyes on them.
Now the logical side of me thought, are these really practical?
I knew the answer was no but some how I caved.
So here they are in all their purple glory. Maddie loves them so much that I can hardly get them off her.
Notice her bedtime attire?
We also bought something new for me that I too am quite excited about. I finally got a new church dress.

In other news, Brooklyn finally rolled over this week. I have been working really hard at getting her to roll over but she showed no interest whatsoever. So the other day at playgroup I laid her on the ground next to my friends baby and told her how I couldn't get her to roll. She said she thought Brooklyn looked like she was getting close. My response was, she always looks like that and almost as soon as I had said this, sure enough, she decided to roll over. She did it about 6 times that day but won't do it for me now... Little stinker.

And look at this. I love that Brooklyn is getting little chubs on her legs. Ah so cute!

Really lets face it. I just love my girls.

Daddy's Happy Birthday weekend!

Today my dear husband turned the big 26. Happy Birthday Karl! So of course we had to spend the weekend celebrating. Here is a little recap of our wonderful birthday weekend.
Since Karl didn't have to work on Friday, we decided to slip out of town early and head to my parents house for the weekend. We had a party for Karl on Friday night and then celebrated all day Saturday as well.

Maddie and Grandma Jo played hair salon at dinner
We had Creme Brule for dessert. I got a creme brule set for Christmas and have since perfected our recipe. It actually didn't turn out so well this time... but the time before that it was perfect.

Karl got lots of fun presents for his birthday such as the new EA Active workout game, a couple movies and some really fun family type games. One of his biggest surprises was 2 tickets to go see the Broadway version of The Lion King when it comes to Utah this summer. I got to see it in New York and absolutely loved it, so we are excited to get to see it together.

(picture from google.com)

And Saturday Karl and I got to go see our first play at Desert Star playhouse. (Our Christmas gift and birthday presents for each other was season tickets to this theater) We got to go with my mom and dad, Andrew and Irene, Steve and Lacey and Karl's sister Katie. We loved the show. It was Twilight: I was a teenage vampire. The best way to describe it would be, just plain silly, like all the plays there are. My dad (no thanks to me who happened to answer the phone when the playhouse called just hours before the show and asked if my parents wanted to trade their seats for some that were closer to the stage- front row actually) was actually pulled up on stage where they threw on a leather jacket and a chicken hat on his head.
While we were at the play, the little girl's got to stay at home with Aunt Katie, Michelle and Uncle Robbie. They had fun too.

Tonight we had a party for Karl with his family. Karl's parents gave him a new pair of Crocs (since he loves his old ones and wears them all the time- even in the snow) I especially like these new ones because they look a lot nicer than the classic Croc.

Tonight we spent time as a family playing with one of Karl's new family games. It is actually REALLY cool.

And there you have it. The not-so-short-short version of our weekend. Thanks everyone for the fun weekend and the cool presents and thanks to Michelle and Lacey for sharing your pictures.

Robbie x 8

Pretty cool Eh?

Actually the thought of having a room full of Robbie's is quite scary.

It's a good thing she's cute!

What happens when this....

And this get together...

Well... I'm sure you get the picture.

Thanks to Madison and Maleah for successfully redecorating our front room.

It's a good thing you're cute little one!

Sorry I didn't get any pictures of the actual event... I didn't think it would help my cause any if I made Madison pose for a picture before we cleaned up the mess. I do regret it now though.

Random Silly-ness

Haha my title just reminded me of a story. When I was younger I used to add "ness" to the end of words. I would say something like "oh cuteness!" One day my friends and I had been driving. When we got home I really had to go to the bathroom so as soon as I got out of the car I started running towards the house saying the word pee with this little added on word over and over again. It took awhile before any of us realized what I was saying. Anyway, here are some silly pictures from the last week.

I have also been working on lots of different projects this week. I...
*Made another car seat cover for my friend's baby shower*Bought material to make a baby BOY blanket for our new little nephew who will be joing our family in June. Hooray! Sorry the picture has to remain a secret until we give it at a shower :)

*Started scanning and organizing all of mine and Karl's childhood pictures.

(I love this picture of Karl)
*Finally started Madison's first year scrapbook

We also ended our week by having TWO different parties at our house. It was a very busy, but fun, week. Oh and did I mention I am now in the Young Women's in our ward? I guess keeping myself busy while Karl's in school this semester might not be as hard as I had thought.

Back to school- in with the new.

Karl started back up with school again today...

Dear Karl/ Daddy
It was nice having you around honey- just remember this is your last big semester of school before you are done. And if we survived last semester of you working full time, going to school full time, moving and having a baby, we can definitely handle this semester right? Since we never get to see you anymore we thought we would give you a little glimpse as to what we do while you are gone. Here's how our day went today.
Woke up around 8:30/9:00ish. We slept in...
We were a little lazy this morning
Got everyone showered and cleaned up for the day by noon
Washed a couple loads of laundry and cleaned up the kitchen
Ran around the house and picked up toys
Babysat our friend's little girl who was born a few days after Brooklyn
(we will be doing this every Monday, Wednesday and Friday since her dad has to be to work by 2 and her mom doesn't get off until 2. We only watch her for about 30 minutes.)
Both of the girl's took a much needed nap while mommy had some alone time
Then we got to spend about an hour with you before you left for school

I do alright keeping myself entertained and busy during the day, but I have such a hard time keeping myself busy at night while you are at school. It's a good thing I have these two beauties to keep me entertained!
Brooklyn is getting so close to giggling... and I love it. Melts my heart. She is also trying oh so hard to be able to sit up by herself. It's funny to watch her whenever she is laying down because she tries to lift her head up as high as she can. She is going to have abs of steal.
And Madison is doing so well with wearing big girl panties. She no longer tells me when she is going to the bathroom and sometimes even forgets to tell me she's even gone to the bathroom at all. She is such a big girl! She also loves finding items around the house that match- either what she is wearing or just whatever she can find that matches. And today she started telling me "I'm taller mommy" whenever she did something she couldn't do before- like put Ivy's picture way up on the top part of the fridge or grab her chapstick up of her dresser!
I am really excited about my new calling in young women's though because I know that will also keep me really busy. It also guarantees that I get to get out of the house at least one night a week. So I guess even though I complain about never getting to see you, things could be worse. So I guess all I can say is good luck this semester, we hope it goes fast! For selfish reasons of course.
We love you, Love your girls.

Look what I did!

I gave Karl a haircut!!! I know this may not seem like a big deal but for me it is.
Karl has always had his mom cut his hair but we decided that we may not always live close to her so I needed to know how to do it myself. (and the fact that Karl's mom swore just last week she wouldn't do another haircut until she got new clippers) So today we bought ourselves some clippers and went to work.
Before

After

It turned out pretty good (as long as you don't look too closely at his side burns and around his ears) but I don't think I'm about to go into the haircutting business anytime soon.

The Big Debate

Who do our kids look like? Their mom? Their dad? Or neither? Do Maddie and Brooklyn look alike? What's your opinion?
(PS my mom thinks that even Karl and I look alike in these pictures... newborn pictures probably aren't the best for comparing)
So in my opinion, Madison has more of me in her and Brooklyn has more of Karl in her... BUT neither of them look too much like either of us. Madison has my nose and eyes and Brooklyn has Karl's. They both have my lips though.

I also don't think the girl's look that much alike either. I mean you can tell they are sisters but I wouldn't say they look just like each other by any means.

Maddie and Brooklyn

Two year old comparison

Look how much hair I had at two compared to Maddie's hair at two.

Daddy, Mommy and Maddie I just thought this was funny

Karl and Maddie at the beach

When I saw these nest two pictures, I have to admit I was shocked. You can't say that this doesn't look like Brooklyn.

(It is Karl if you didn't know)

This picture reminds me of Madison because this is something I could see her doing... no question she is my daughter.
(This is me, if you didn't know)

Look how much hair I had when I was a baby. Why didn't my girl's get their hair from me?
