Finishing up 2008

Yet again, another year has come and gone. It has been a great year though. I was just going through some of my pictures and it made me realize how much has really changed this past year. Madison has grown and changed SO much. This was Madison a year ago... And this is Madison now... there still isn't too much hair (it is starting to grow pretty good now) but other then that, physically she has grown so much. A year ago she was barely sitting up by herself and was completely dependant on us for everything. Now, she is running around like crazy and likes to be as InDePeNtAnT as possible. She loves to act like a grown up, talk on the cell phone, sing and dance, take care of her baby dolls and make as big of a mess- as fast as she can. We are so grateful to have her in our lives and love the opportunity to watch her learn and grow everyday.

This year for New Years we had a fun party with Karl's family. This was the first year since we have been married that Karl didn't have to spend the whole evening setting up and shooting fireworks. He did still shoot a show this year, but he was fortunate enough to only have a small show here in the valley. It was a private show at a guys house so Karl went up during the day to set up and didn't have to go back until about 11:30 to get ready to shoot- and we all got to go up and watch the show as well. Anyway, we had a fun evening filled with lots of good food and family. Karl's family have a tradition to have a finger food feast every year on New Years Eve. It is a really fun tradition because we eat lots of foods that we don't usually get to eat. Everything we eat has to be able to be eaten with only your fingers or toothpicks.
Here are the last few pictures I had on my camera for the year 2008.

These are Madison's new Christmas pants. Obviously they are still a little bit big. Madison was playing and I looked over and this is what I saw.Feeding her dolly in the high chair

Christmas with the C's

On Tuesday Karl, Madison and I decided to bare the awful weather and travel to my parents house to spend the week of Christmas with them. We did lots of fun things but since I have a gimpy finger right now I will only share some highlights.

On Christmas Eve we all piled into the car to go to the Baird's house for our annual Christmas Eve Party. This year we decided to have everyone wear "UgLy SwEaTeRs". It was really fun to see what everyone came up with.

We even had a contest, with prizes for the winners. Here they are.

Madison had a lot of fun playing with the many friends she had that night. Melissa and Mitch have a dog named Hunter. Madison was completely enthralled by him. She also had a lot of fun playing with our cousin Ally... under the piano.

On Christmas morning my family has a tradition that we all line up youngest to oldest to get to go in and see what Santa had brought for them. Santa doesn't usually always wrap the little ones presents so as soon as Madison walked into the family room she found what he had left her. She was SO excited! She loves baby dolls and now she had a stroller AnD a car seat for her dolls to use.She got lots of fun presents from her aunts, uncles and Grandparents and once again LoVeD playing with everything she got... including her clothes. After opening presents we all made breakfast and got to play with all of our fun new toys. Karl and I got lots of fun new games to play on our Wii so you will all have to come over and play with us.Usually on Christmas we go to a party with my dad's side of the family but since we got snowed in the party was moved to Friday which meant we just got to spend the day at home, in our pajama's being lazy.On Christmas night Andrew, Irene and Irene's sister Elaine came over and we made homemade pizza and watched a movie. After the movie they tried to go home but realized as they turned out on the main road and saw a huge pile of cars at the bottom of the over pass that they didn't want to try and drive home in the snow. So... we had a sleepover. We stayed up late laughing and talking about how Robbie and Karl almost got us in trouble with the cop who kept driving past our house. We also played "name that movie" by trying to look across the street at our neighbors who had conveniently positioned their big screen TV right in front of their open window. On Friday we went to My Aunt Connie's house to celebrate Christmas with my dad's side of the family. It was a lot of fun because we got to see a bunch of our family that we hadn't seen in a long time. My cousin Candee and her family just moved back to Utah from Washington and her brother Brett just moved back from California. Also, my Aunt Carolyn's granddaughter Chelsea was also able to join us from Texas. Unfortunately these were the only pictures I took... This is my cousin Candee's little boy Chad. He is only 2 months older than Madison.

We had a really fun week with my family this week. Thank you everyone for all the fun gifts and for all the fun times. We love you all. Thanks Michelle for sharing your pictures.

Christmas with the N family

Since this was our year (again...) to spend Christmas with my family, (we haven't actually had Christmas on Christmas day with Karl's family since we've been Married because last year his sister Katie came home from her mission just a few days after Christmas so we decided to wait to do it with her) we did Christmas with Karl's family the Sunday and Monday before Christmas. We couldn't figure out a time that worked for everyone to do it a night and a morning so we ended up doing our Christmas Eve traditions on Sunday night and then our Christmas morning traditions on Monday night. On ChRiStMaS EvE Karl's family has always done soup in soup bowls for dinner so we started our evening eating some delicious soups. After eating dinner we got to open a few special Christmas eve presents.
Every year we get Pajamas. This is all of us in our cute matching pj's.
Madison and Ivy had a lot of fun playing together. Ivy is at the stage now where she can actually interact with Madison and they are so cute together.
This is what Madison is going to look like pregnant... but hopefully she will be a LoT older. They were stuffing all the wrapping paper up her shirt.

When we arrived on Monday night for our Christmas morning traditions Madison was asleep.
While she slept we got to go through our stockings and then got to eat this delicious breakfast. After breakfast Madison finally woke up and we got to open all of our presents. She LoVeD all of her presents. She was so excited about the new baby doll her Nanna gave her that she was shaking while I was trying to open the package as fast as I could.

After she opened her first present, she spent the rest of the time wandering around looking at everything everyone got and playing in our empty boxes and wrapping paper.
Karl ended up getting his Wii fit which he was way excited about. I got some cute new clothes too... which is always exciting. They also gave us some money this year instead of lots of presents because we decided we needed the money more then the presents. Thank you so much for the wonderful Christmas! We appreciate everything you all do for us.

New post coming soon

I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't vanished off the face of the earth, we just have been really busy and I haven't had time to blog. But... no fear a new post is on its way. I cut my finger really bad last night and had to go get stitches in it so... it is going to take me a little longer to get the new post done but it should be done in a couple of hours Ü

Growing up

Since it has been a while since I have really posted much I am doing a couple today. This one is going to mostly be pictures.
This is Madison getting herself ready so she can go outside and play... or so she thinks.

This is Madison when she realizes that I am not going to let her go outside right then

On Saturday we went to my parents house to celebrate my birthday. We always love spending time together with our family. My Grandparents came down to celebrate as well. We don't get to see them nearly enough so we enjoyed getting to spend some time with them.

This is an artistic picture I took of my sister Katie (and by artistic I mean I turned my camera a weird direction to take the picture)
Madison also got to open an "early" Christmas outfit while we were there. She looked so CuTe!
Look at those cute little teeth
My daughter is already addicted to the cell phone. Is that my fault??? Oh also look at her hair- it actually looked pretty cute that day. I put Gel in it and it actually went curly even on the top of her hair where it is usually pretty straight.
We also finally decided to take some family pictures for our Christmas cards- That will be in the mail soon! We were only missing my sister Heidi and her husband Ovidiu who live in Oregon.
And last but not least... we bought Madison her first real tooth brush and toothpaste and let her officially brush her teeth for the first time. She had a little toothbrush that she liked to play with and would pretend to brush her teeth when we did but we never actually let her use toothpaste. So yesterday, we sat her on the counter and taught her the proper way to brush her teeth. She lOvEd it.
Last night we had our "Christmas Eve" celebration with Karl's family- since we will be with my family on Christmas- and we are doing "Christmas Day" celebrations tonight. We got lots of cute pictures last night but I forgot my camera so I have to steel them from Lacey so I will have to post them later. Until then, MeRrY ChRiStMaS everyone!!!!!

Maddie got a haircut!

Today I did something I have been considering doing for a while now but could not quite bring myself to do before now. I cut Madison's hair! She doesn't have a lot of hair so the little hair she does have is precious. The problem though is that there is really only one place that her hair is growing fast, it is in the middle of the back of her head. I like to call it her duck tail. Well lately it has started to get a little bit out of control. Her hair has quite a bit of curl in it on the back and the hair is at a weird length which made it hard to curl really cute- so instead it would usually just turn into a big frizz ball. So... today I pulled out the scissors and did some cutting. I didn't have to cut off very much but I think it made a HUGE difference. Her cute little curls are back again!
Here's the before shot... it might be hard to see but this is her little duck tailAnd here is the after... Her beautiful curls are back!!!!
