Where are we???
It's game time!
Can you figure out where we went on our outing last week while the weather was awesome?!?
Side note: I have been having a terrible time trying to get Miss Aubrey to eat baby food. It's been rather stressful actually. I knew I was supposed to be getting her eating 'real' food but it was so much work to get even the smallest amount of food in her body. She gets very excited when she see's that spoon coming towards her mouth but hardly anything was getting swallowed. I finally figured out that she was just letting the food pool in the front of her mouth. When I mentioned this to her doctor he told me to start giving her solid foods because it is actually easier to swallow thicker food than it is to swallow liquid. This one suggestion from her doctor made all the difference in the world!!! She still doesn't get many calories from her food but she is at least getting used to the concept of food- and loves it.
She may or may not have had some of my sucker this day too...
Alright. Any guesses? I'm sure most of you know where we went but let's hear if you figured it out.
(If you can figure it out and want a free play date to this place with us sometime, let me know)

Let's dig a hole, fill it up, then dig a hole again...
I know that no one else really cares about these updates but I want every step of our house building process to be recorded in our family history- so feel free to skip over these posts if you want to. :)
Last Monday they finally started digging our hole for the house. I thought it was a little odd that after a full days work the hole was only about 15' x 4'. It turns out that as they were digging they discovered a gas line that had not been marked by the gas company. (We were really lucky they just found the end of the line and didn't actually break the line)
The funny thing about this gas line is, no one knew it was there. Not even the gas company had any record of where it came from or even when it was put there...
So the gas company had to come out and completely move this newly found gas line (which went across our entire property) into our park strip before digging could continue.
So far, this little adventure has put us back at least a week...
After a few rounds of digging, refilling and digging again...Yesterday they were finally able to finish digging the hole.
If you are wondering why there is a random mound of dirt still left in the hole- (I know I was...) apparently they don't need to remove the dirt where the garage is going to be so they only remove enough to lay the foundation for the rest of the home...
Hopefully it won't be long now before the foundation is laid and they can really get things rolling...

Fire Station Field Trip...
Yesterday was field trip day.
We got to go to the Fire Station for a special tour.
We started our tour in the conference room then began walking down the hall just in time for...
The fire alarm to sound
We quickly turned back around and waited for the friendly firemen to return.
We were able to see where the firemen eat, sleep and hang out while they wait for a call and also the cool fireman pole they use to get down in a hurry.
(Doesn't it look like Maddie and Cailen are swing dancing?)
This picture made me giggle. It looks like Maddie's body morphed together with Cailen's. Do you see it?
Brooklyn and Matthew love getting to come along with their big sisters...
These two were having fun yelling in each other's faces... but that's not what this picture leads you to believe. Haha.
Mrs Trish got to dress up in all the firemen's clothes...
It only made Brookie cry when she started breathing with the mask on.
They even gave us these cool fire hats.
One of the kids was picking their nose so one of the fireman decided to tell all the kids to pick their noses...
Lovely.
It was a fun little outing for all in attendance.

A special guest appearance...
Those silly St. Patrick's day leprechauns paid us a visit last night.
I had always heard about the mischief they can cause, but I've never actually seen the results of their efforts myself...
Madison has been learning about these little guys all week at preschool. But I never actually thought they would pay a visit to our house...
And guess who they brought with them?
Zander the Elf, in all his St. Patrick's Day glory...
They sent us on a treasure hunt too.
We found this poem on the wall in the bathroom.
"I have hidden treasure near,
it won't be easy to find I fear.
Look high and low to find the rainbow.
There you'll find a golden treat,
Something yummy for you to eat!"
What a fun surprise for us to find.
Thank you leprechauns for all the fun
and for bringing our friend Zander to see us again.
(It's a good thing I was paying attention to what the girls had to say in the car after Preschool yesterday... and thanks Mrs Trish for the heads up text last night)

What a pair...
I know I've said this before but some days I really feel like my little Madison is a 16 year old in a 4 year old's body...
Some of the things she says,
Some of the things she does,
Seriously kid, where are these things coming from?
I actually got the "you're ruining my life" comment from her the other night.
That one caught me a little off guard...
I wasn't expecting to hear that one for at least a few more years.
Needless to say, with this grown up personality also comes some really fun things as well.
This girl is so smart.
Holding a regular adult conversation with her is actually a regular occurrence. And she actually understands what we are telling her. This is one thing she has always done really well. Her nursery leaders always used to tell me that she was the only kid in nursery that they could actually reason with. You explain something to her and she just gets it. (That doesn't mean that she always does what you ask, but she does understand what you are asking of her)
She's always got something witty, silly or completely random to say.
You never know what she will say or do next.
Like the time she told her Grandma that she had just seen the picture of her with the silly hair (you know the lovely 90's hairstyles) We're still working on how it's not always appropriate to tell everyone just what you are thinking...
It keeps things interesting though.
Anyway, I didn't really think it was possible but Maddie has found a friend that seems to be much like herself.
These two really are quite the pair.
Quite a hilarious pair actually.
Meet Cailen.
They are in the same preschool class.
A few months ago Maddie came home from school and told me that she and Cailen wanted to have a play date and that he was going to have his mom call me. Everyday she came home from preschool Maddie would remind me that we needed to set up a play date. Finally a few weeks ago, his mom and I made it happen.
I just sat a giggled almost the whole time he was at our house.
They were so funny.
These pictures are proof that I am a good mom. :) Blowing bubbles in our milk is not a normal occurrence but we allowed it just this once.
Isn't it fun to have good friends???
Speaking of good friends, I sure am looking forward to our annual girls night this weekend. Bring on the girl talk!
